Phonics & Literacy Program

During the sensitive period for language, children are naturally drawn to letters, sounds, and words. Our phonics program follows the Montessori sequence — using hands-on materials and gentle guidance to unlock the joy of reading and writing at each child's own pace.

Benefits

  • Follows the Montessori sequence for language development during the sensitive period (3–6 years)
  • Builds a strong phonetic foundation using sandpaper letters, moveable alphabet, and picture-sound matching
  • Develops early writing through metal insets, sand tray tracing, and letter formation
  • Nurtures a genuine love of reading through phonetic decoding and early readers
  • Small group sizes ensure individual attention and pacing
  • Supports concentration, self-discipline, and persistence through purposeful work
  • Encourages confidence and independence as children experience the thrill of reading their first words

Sample Learning Outcomes

  • Recognising letter sounds and building phonemic awareness through hands-on materials
  • Encoding and decoding simple phonetic words using the moveable alphabet
  • Reading early phonetic books independently with growing confidence
  • Developing pencil grip and letter formation through tracing and writing activities
  • Building vocabulary and comprehension through stories, conversation, and word-building
